Persistent,
involuntary
interaction between a disembodied spirit and a living person.
Residual Haunting An event that's imprinted
in the environment and is played back on a regular interval such as an
anniversary.
Intelligent HauntingA Haunting by an entity
such as a human spirit or a demonic being.
A generic term to
describe any type of disembodies spirit, human or inhuman.
Ghost (human entity) The spirit of a deceased
human.
An entity that is
non-human and comes from unknown origin. Usually malevolent.
Exorcism
A
religious ritual, performed by an Exorcist or Demonologist.
The
Exorcist confronts the Demon and commands it to leave a
house, or a person it has possessed.
Exorcist Someone who's trained
and qualified by the Catholic
Church to perform exorcisms.
Demonologist An
expert in the field of Demonology. Can identify and
communicate
with demons, and may perform exorcisms. Often, a Demonologist
will work with a Church sanctioned exorcist rather than
perform
exorcisms himself.
Possession When
A demonic entity takes control over a person's body. This is
always done for evil purposes, and the demon may want to harm the
subject it's possessing, or use the possession victim to inflict harm
on others.
ApparitionThe
visual materialization of an entity which is witnessed by a living
person.
Usually done on purpose when the entity wants to be seen by a certain individual, either to relay a message or to instill fear. E.V.P. Electronic Voice
Phenomenon. The practice of capturing disembodied voices
using a tape recorder.
Ouija Board (talking board) A
game where players hold a planchette (cursor) over a board containing letters, and let spirits
guide it to spell words and answers to questions. Considered
by experts to be dangerous
as it may invite and empower evil spirits.
